Abstract

568,045. Belt fastenings. RIDDICK, C. D. April 27, 1943, Nos. 6615 and 6939. [Class 80 (i)] A. tubular connector 10 into which the ends 17, 18 of a round leather belt are adapted to be screwed, is tapered from about the centre towards each end to provide a smooth lead on to and off from the pulley. The thread may be unidirectional throughout the length of the connector, or right- and left-handed threads may be provided at the ends and such threads may taper inwardly. The connector may be (1) of metal ; (2) an inner metal tube with a rubber sleeve moulded thereon ; (3) wholly of rubber or of a suitable plastic material, e.g. cellulose acetate. The outer surface may be roughened or shaped to receive a tool for rotating it or holes 15 may be provided to receive a tommy bar.
