879,868. Ferrules for joining wire ropes. TEXMETAUX A.G. March 12, 1959, No. 8519/59. Class 109. A ferrule 1 for connecting two parts 2, 3 of steel wire rope, for example in forming an eye, comprises a mainly cylindrical metal sleeve of oval cross-section provided at least at one end with a lining 41 of yielding material. The ferrule is swaged on to wire parts 2, 3, preferably in two stages, between die surfaces. The lining may be of rubber, leather, nylon, polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene, and may be oval to fit the sleeve, or circular and may be received in recesses in the walls of the sleeve.
