Abstract

1,102,671. Rope slings. MARTIN BLACK & CO. (WIRE ROPES) Ltd. 16 Feb., 1965 [16 Nov., 1963; 31 Jan., 1964], Nos. 45513/63 and 4121/64. Heading B8H. [Also in Division D1] A steel-wire rope sling 1 is provided with a series of interengaging steel sleeves 4 which are held in engagement with one another by springs 6, 7, which abut a fixed collar 8 and a movable collar 9. The collar 9 has two halves which are screwed together. The sleeves 4 and collars 8, 9 and 10 all have chamfered ends. The sleeves may be of asbestos, synthetic resinous material or aluminium alloy. In a second embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the sleeves are replaced by a single helical spring.
