Abstract

954,051. Hose couplings. OIL FEED ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Nov. 25, 1960 [Nov. 25, 1959], No. 40100/59. Heading F2G. In an end fitting for a hose 4 having embedded reinforcement 5 and of the kind comprising a ferrule 2, an insert 1 and a wedge ring 3 which grips the reinforcement between itself and the ferrule, the ferrule and wedge ring are formed with co-operating gripping surfaces 6, 7 having a conical shape but of different slopes to provide a conical receiving annulus having a diameter which increases, and a width which decreases away from the receiving end thereof. As shown, the ring 3 has internal circumferential grooves into which the material of the hose is forced, and the movement of the ring into the ferrule is limited by a shoulder 11 on the ring.
