Abstract
567,843. Closed solid - fuel stoves. CAUCHANER, D. May 14, 1943, No. 7731. [Class 126] In a closed solid-fuel stove, the openings to the fuel chamber F and the ashpit L are adapted to be tightly closed, while the chimney A serves to supply the air for combustion which passes downwardly in counter-current to the ascending waste gases. The fuel chamber F is fitted with three spaced doors G, H, I, of which the outer one, G. is formed as an ornamental grid and the inner one, 1, as a simple closure to protect the intermediate tightly-fitting door H from direct contact with the burning fuel. The door H bears against the outer flange of a frame l, Fig. 6, and is held in the tightlyclosed position by a screw a passing through an operating bar b and bearing on the outer face of the door. The bar b is loosely pivoted on the hinge-pin n and has sufficient play in a vertical eye member c to allow its end to be disengaged from the hook e. A pit is provided in front of the ashpit door D and is adapted to be closed by a horizontal door or grid J flush with the floor E of the room.
