Abstract
567,734. Fluidheaters; reheaters. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. Aug. 12, 1943, No. 13062. Convention date, Aug. 22, 1942. [Classes 64 (iii) and 123'(ii)] In a fluid heater, e.g. a reheater, Fig. 5, installed in a steam generator, comprising a main section constituted by tubes 34 disposed between inlet and outlet headers 40, 100 respectively, and side sections 92, 93 having outlet conduits 86, 94 which are connected to the ends of the header 40 and supply steam thereto, the header 40 is provided with means for improving the distribution of steam to the tubes 34. As shown in Fig. 2, two oppositely-tapered distributers 104, 106 are located within the header 40, each distributer being open at its larger end to one of the conduits 86, 94 and closed at the other end and also provided with longitudinal rows 150, 152, Fig. 3, of outlets which open into an annular steam mixing chamber 108 defined by the space between the inner surface of the header and the distributers. The heater may be provided with end closures 166 and inspection or access openings 176.
