[Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVII] In an ignition system for internal-combustion engines, high-frequency impulses generated in a circuit 2, 6, 7 are distributed to the plugs 5 by means of a transformer comprising a, primary coil 3 which is rotatable in synchronism with the interrupter 1 so as to transmit impulses successively to fixed secondary coils 4 connected to the plugs. In order to confine the flux generated by the primary to one secondary at a time (or two where dual ignition is required), the coils are wound on iron cores (powdered or laminated) and are provided with an iron sheath and with a low resistance metal casing.
