[Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVI] 0 In telephone hand-sets, according to the parent Specification, a conductor cord with parallel wires is located in a channel at the base of the cavities for the transmitter and receiver capsules, prongs on the capsules being forced into the cord to make contact with the proper conductor, e.g. by screwing on the caps of the instruments. According to the present invention, in order to utilize this method of cording in hand-sets in which conductors, separate from the cord, extend from the transmitter cavity through the handle to the receiver cavity, an adapter is provided comprising (a) an insert 5, shaped to fit into the bottom of the transmitter cavity 1, and having a recess to receive the end of the cord, and three threaded bushings 9, and (b) a clamping block 17 having screw holes registering with the bushings and three contact members 14, 15, 16 secured to block 17 by screws which force the pronged ends of the contact members through the cord insulation to engage the conductors. Spring contacts 19, 20 engage the transmitter terminals. Specification 566,205 also is referred to.
