566,509. Digesters..STEVENSON, A. April 17, 1943, No. 6162. [Class 64 (i)] A digester for treating swill or food refuse comprises a jacketed container A provided with a combined inlet and discharge port C and a perforated false bottom R, steam from a boiler S being admitted to the jacket B and thence through a handoperated valve V to the container, and the condensate &c. therefrom passing through the strainer R and being discharged through a cock U. The digester is rotatably mounted on end frames D, E, and a lever F is provided to lock it in the charging and emptying positions, that is, with the port C directed upwardly and downwardly respectively. An axially-disposed spindle K, having agitating arms L and rotatable by a handle M, is also provided.
