Abstract

Class 23 In a steam separator comprising a cylindrical body A, an inlet pipe D, whirl producing passages F at the top of the inlet pipe, and a steam outlet H surrounding the top of the inlet p i p e and through which the passages pass. the bottom of the cylindrical body forms a reservoir for water and has an outlet L for dirt, an outlet M connected to a steam trap, and an outlet N connected to a valve which is opened when steam passes through the separator. A ship's siren connected to the outlet H operates when steam passes through the separator. The steam trap deals with condensatewhen the siren is not operative, and the opening of the valve prevents flooding of the separator during operation of the siren. The inlet pipe has annular vanes J<SP>1</SP>, J<SP>2</SP> and the internal wall of the cylindrical body is provided with longitudinal vanes G.
