Density separators.-A water separator for a steam power installation has a discharge control member operated by the centrifugal pressure exercised by the collected water. The steam and water are led by the pipe A tangentially into the separator m and the steam passes out through the pipe B while the water, if the quantity is small, passes away through the trap o. A spring- pressed valve a, Fig. 1, is arranged in the container wall and under centrifugal pressure with a large quantity of water, opens the discharge pipe c. In a preferred modification the main discharge valve a, Fig. 3, is opened by auxiliary means. A spring diaphragm d or a piston is subjected on one side to the combined pressure of the water and steam, while the other side is subjected to the steam pressure through a pipe l. When the water pressure overcomes the spring the diaphragm operates a valve to connect the pipes g, h thereby permitting an external pressure fluid, or the steam of the system to open the discharge valve a.
