Abstract
385,720. Separating oil from air. WILLIAMS, H. G., Southlands, Tuffley Avenue, JAMES, R. R., Morwenna, Stroud Road, both in Gloucester, and LOVE, T. E., White House, Cromwell Road, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Dec. 3, 1931, No. 33483. [Class 12 (iii).] The air delivered by a vacuum pump, and carrying oil, passes into a separator 3 having a restricted air outlet 8 which allows the pressure to rise when the pump vacuum falls, and to open a valve 6 to convey oil to the sump from which it passes to the pump cylinder. The sump has a breather 11. The separator comprises a plate 5 perforated at the lower part. A rotary vane pump may be used in place of the piston pump shown.
