454,978. Regulating flow of fluids; gauges. ARCUS, C. R., 152, Browning Road, East Ham, London. May 16, 1935, No. 14354. [Class 135] [See also Group XIX] An apparatus for protecting a pressure gauge subject to excessive fluctuations of pressure as when used with oil-fuel pumps of Diesel engines, comprises a non-return trap-valve F admitting the oil from the pump at B to the gauge at C, the valve having a piston portion with fine throttling groove f. An air-cushion D, with sump K for sediment, is provided, and a fine groove h on a valve H permits gradual release of the oil from the gauge to a drain pipe L. If the chamber D becomes depleted of air, the valve H is withdrawn from the passage J by a handle N, allowing the chamber D to discharge oil, and to recharge with air through a hole M. If desired, a spring may be fitted above the valve F.
