Abstract
571,558. Producing distilled water from mains steam. TOWNSON & MERCER, Ltd., and BROCK, R. B. Aug. 26, 1943, No. 13947. [Class 32] An apparatus for producing clean distilled water from mains steam comprises an outer air-cooled jacket 11, closed at the top and having an inlet 15 near the bottom for the raw steam and a waste outlet . 17 at the bottom, and an inner condensing chamber 12 having an open top 14, an outlet 23 at the bottom for clean condensed water and a cooling water circulator 18, 20. A minor proportion (viz. 10 to 20 per cent) of the raw steam is condensed in the jacket 11 and the resulting condensed water brings down any suspended dirt or oil to the bottom of the jacket where it is discharged to waste while the clean steam passes into the inner chamber 12 where it is condensed and yields clean distilled water.
