Abstract

566,326. Overhead cranes. KING, Ltd., G. W., and KING, D. M. Jan. 18, 1943, No. 918. [Class 78 (iv)] In cranes, hoists, &c. having a plurality of carriages running on spaced parallel tracks, at least two of said carriages serving as driving carriages, each of said driving carriages is powered by a separate electric motor. When the end carriages are designed as the drivers, the motor in each case is located on the inner side of the carriage. Fig. 3 is a side view of one of the carriages 10, which support between them the load suspension beam 12. Independent flanged wheels 16 ride on the lower transverse of the I-section tracks 11. The trollies may be rigid and have the wheels 16 spring-mounted thereon, or may be built up of two side plates 15 independently carried by a cross-shaft 18' on the trolley frame which carries a shaft 19 pivoted in the main carriage body 14. The shafts 19 may alternatively be fixed to the body 14 and pivot in the trolley frames.
