Abstract
564,950. Cras - blast switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA, AKTIEBOLAGET. June 15, 1943, No. 9518. Convention date, May 29, 1942. [Class 38 (v)] The supply of blast-gas to the breaking gap is reduced by the movable contact in the open-circuit position. Opening of a valve 17 admits the gas to an orifice 14 by way of the space between an outer cylinder 13 and the cylinder 5 containing the operating piston 6 of the movable contact 8. Simultaneously with the opening of valve 17, a three-way valve 15 is opened to admit gas below piston 6, the valve 15 being then operated to exhaust the space below 6 to atmosphere and allow the contact to open, as described in Specification 564,949, the resulting blast through the nozzlecontact 9 extinguishing the arc. In the open position, contact 8 almost closes the opening 14 to cut off the supply except for a quantity sufficient for preventing re-ignition, a buffer 11 cushioning the opening impact. In reclosing, the contact 8 is opened prior to closing the isolator 2. Specification 551,222 also is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states also that throttling may be effected by a member connected with the movable contact. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
