Abstract

1437202 Gas - blast circuit breakers MAGRINI-FABRICHE RIUNITE MAGRINISCARPA E MAGNANO MSM SpA 31 May 1973 [31 May 1972] 26064/73 Heading H1N The operating mechanism of a gas-blast circuit breaker comprises a pneumatically operated piston 7 connected to the moving contacts 13 via a linkage associated with a spring 17, the linkage being such that during opening of the circuit breaker the piston causes the spring to be loaded, the linkage passing through a dead centre position 21 to a locked position 23 where the moving contact is held open and the spring held loaded. The linkage remains in the locked position until the piston causes the linkage to move past the dead centre position 21 during closing when the spring takes over to move the contact into the closed position. Air passes into the cylinder 8 via valves under the control of coils 19, 20. Arcs between the contacts 12, 13 can be extinguished by SF 6 gas.
