Abstract
564,255. Valves. PUGH, C. A., SAY, A. W., and PLESSEY CO., Ltd. July 22, 1942, No. 10273. [Class 135] The device comprises an inlet 24, an outlet 25 leading to a service pipe 43 past a non-return valve 45, a byepass passage 26, a pilot valve 15 and a byepass valve 21. Pressure in the service pipe is led to the chamber 40 through a passage having an adjustable valve 49, and at a certain value causes a plunger 41 to move the valves 15, 21 against the action of a spring 29, the movement being sufficient to open the valve 15 but not the valve 21. The liquid admitted to a chamber 35 operates a piston 37 so that its plunger 38 moves into the chamber 40. The intensified pressure thus produced acts on the plunger 41 to move the valves 15, 21 further so that the latter opens the byepass passage 26. The piston 37 has a bleed orifice 52 and the chamber 36 in which it works is connected to the passage 26 through an adjustable valve 51. In a modification, the byepass valve 21 is replaced by a valve hydraulically connected with the valve 15.
