Abstract

564,179. Oil seals. WESTON & CO., Ltd., C., and EDNEY, G. H. June 11, 1943, No. 9404. [Class 122 (v)] An oil seal for flat or cylindrical relatively moving surfaces comprises an angle section packing 15 having a radial flange 12 held in contact with the side wall 14 of the casing by a member having a flange 28 engaging the flange 12, and an axial projection 25 of the same width as the packing flange. The said member is retained in position by a member 22 carried by the seal casing. The flange 28 may be bent axially at 30. The packing may be loaded by a garter spring or by a conical member 18 pressed axially by a spring 20. Specification 411,315 is referred to.
