[Classes 51 (i) and 51 (ii)] A furnace arch or roof comprises a metal supporting structure, refractory hanger members suspended from the supporting structure and interengaging refractory members supported by the hanger members in staggered relation, a layer of insulating material being applied to the upper surface of the interengaging refractory members to . protect the metal supporting structure. As shown in Fig. 1, pairs of clips 11 engaging beams 10 support transverse beams 14 from which refractory hanger members 21 are suspended by hangers 16 having upper and lower pairs of flanges 17, 18, the flanges 18 engaging with grooves 22, 23 in the upper ends of the members 21, Fig. 5. The lower ends of the members 21 are provided with recesses 24 with which engage flanges 30, 31, Fig. 9, of the interengaging refractory members 26, the side walls of which are provided with recesses and projections 32, 33. Insulating material 29 covers the members 26.
