Abstract

335,269. Hamilton, J. June 25, 1929. Crowns and roofs are built of refractory blocks 2 supported by inverted channel-shaped girders 1 having outwardly-inclined side members 4, the blocks having correspondingly-shaped recesses. The girders may be supported by other girders above them. Air flows along the space 17 within the inverted channel-shaped member and may pass through holes 20 in or between the blocks to the furnace space. The girders are fixed relatively to one another by adjustable links 12 which fit into apertures in lugs 10 on the web 6. The air conduit 17 may be sealed with clay or other incombustible packing at the edges of the girder. Air may be introduced into the conduit under pressure. Specification 330,326 is referred to.
