Roofs.-The flat roof of an electric furnace is built up of sets of similar blocks A suspended from overhead girders D by wires or bars E, each of which is directly attached to a small casting, forging or bar B inserted in aligned holes or recesses a in adjacent blocks. The roof is preferably covered with heat-insulating material F, and means are provided for adjusting the lengths of the suspending-bars.
