Bricks, special shapes of.-In a resistance furnace wherein the floor, walls, and roof are built of refractory bricks a formed with circular grooves b containing the resistance. coils c, the bricks are supported by metal T- shaped girders e, and the adjacent ends of the bricks are recessed at f to receive the flanges of the girders and are so shaped that at the joints the girders are completely protected from the heat of the furnace. As shown, the bricks are rebated at the edges to protect the girders. The girders may be connected to an outer casing by the tiebars.
