Abstract

563,070. Valves. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. April 15, 1943, No. 6041. Convention date, June 24, 1942. [Class 7 (vi)] A valve for internal-combustion engines has a core 11 of easily worked carbon steel fitted with a separate head closure 15 and a cam engaging plug 19 and coated with chromium plating. The core is flared at 13 by spinning to form the head and the closure disc welded in position at 16. The member 19 has an aperture through which coolant may be introduced before sealing by a plug 23. In a modification, the head 25 is a separate stamping butt welded at 27 to the stem 29. Specification 254,757, [Class 41], is referred to.
