Abstract

187,119. Barrs, W. Sept. 23, 1921. Spindles.- A mushroom valve for internal-combustion engines, in which the head is separate from the stem, has the stem formed with a flange C<3> against which the head A is held by a neck B secured to the stem by a, pin E. The neck B may be integral with the head, or may be separate therefrom and bear against a shoulder formed on the stem, for example by a tapered portion C<2>. The tubular stem may be fitted with plugs D, F, the former of aluminium or other light alloy, and the latter of hardened steel. The junction between the head A and flange C', and any of the other joints, may be welded.
