Abstract

Spindles.-To prevent the head of a. poppet valve of an internalcombustion engine from falling off in case of fracture of the valve stem, a sleeve d, loosely surrounding the valve stem a but screwed thereto at b, is formed with a head e loosely attached to the valve head c, for example by rivets f which support the head if the stem breaks. In a modification, the valve head is formed with lugs which are bent over the edge of the head e.
