Abstract
Dihaloacrylyl halides are produced by hydrolysis of trihalopropionyl halides. Trichloropropionyl chloride may be made by reacting trichlorpropionic acid with thionyl chloride or with sulphur monochloride and chlorine, in the first case in presence of dimethyl aniline, and in the second case in the presence of zinc chloride. In examples, trichlorpropionyl chloride is pyrolized in a packed glass tube within an electrically heated iron tube. The temperature range stated is 400-550 DEG C.
