Abstract

Sulphonamides are prepared by melting a sulphonyl chloride RSO2Cl, where R is alkyl, a-chloroalkyl, aryl or chloroaryl, with an excess of an amine R1NHR11, where R1 is alkyl, aryl or chloroaryl and R11 is hydrogen or alkyl; R and/or R1 contain chlorine. Examples prepare chloromethylsulphoric acid 2, 4, 5-trichloroanilide, 2, 4, 5-trichlorobenzene-sulphonic acid 21, 41, 51-trichloroanilide, methylsulphonic aci 2, 4, 5-trichloroanilide, benzene-sulphonic acid 2, 4, 5-trichloroanilide, 2, 4, 5-trichlorobenzene-sulphonic acid a-naphthylamide, and 2, 5-dichlorobenzene-sulphonic acid diethylamide.
