Abstract

The invention comprises 5-chloro- and 5-bromo - 4 - hydroxybenzene - 1 : 3 - disulphonyl chlorides, their preparation by reacting o-chloro- or o-bromo-phenol with chlorosulphonic acid, and their conversion to 4 : 5-di-chloro- and 5 - bromo - 4 - chloro - benzene - 1 : 3 - disulphonyl chlorides by heating with phosphorus pentachloride. Examples are given.
