Abstract

1-methyl -2- hexahydropyrimidine is prepared by reacting methylpropylene diamine with carbon disulphide, heating the mixture to 60 DEG C., adding further carbon disulphide, and refluxing for 1 hour. Concentrated hydrochloric acid is then added and the mixture refluxed for a further 10 hours.
