Abstract

Dithioresorcinol is prepared as follows. Benzene is treated with sulphuric acid to produce sodium-1,3-benzene disulphonate. This is reacted with phosphorus pentachloride to produce benzene 1,3-disulphonylchloride which is reacted with zinc dust in water and dilute hydrochloric acid to produce the desired compound. U.S.A. Specification 1,970,578 is referred to.
