Abstract

Amino-guanidine is prepared by reacting an aqueous solution of hydrazine having a concentration of from 1% to 6% by weight with calcium cyanamide at ambient temperatures, filtering the reaction mixture so produced, adjusting its pH to a value of from 3 to 5, heating the reaction mixture to a temperature of at least 75 DEG C. for at least one hour and thereafter precipitating and recovering the amino-guanidine so formed.
