Abstract
Chloroprene is prepared by dehydrochlorinating 1,3,3-trichlorobutane by heating to a temperature of 300 DEG to 650 DEG C. Dichlorobutenes are obtained as by-products and may be further dehydrochlorinated to chloroprene, either in a separate vessel or by recycle to the reaction vessel.
