Abstract
The process for preparing 2,2,2-trifluoro-1-bromo - 1 - chloroethane as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 in the parent Specification is conducted by continuously introducing the aluminium bromide and the 1,1,2-trifluoro-1-bromo - 2 - chloroethane into a reaction zone, and continuously withdrawing the product 2,2,2 - trifluoro - 1 - bromo - 1 - chloroethane from the reaction zone, the temperature in the reaction zone being maintained within the range of from 20 DEG to 50 DEG C. Examples are given. A comparative example describes the use of aluminium chloride as catalyst. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 767,779.
