Abstract

562,408. Walls. ROWSE, A. G. Jan. 22, 1943, No. 1133. [Class 20 (iv)] A continuous cavity wall comprises an outer wall built of precast blocks or slabs 1 each formed at the opposite ends of their inner faces with marginal flanges 4, and an inner wall 2 of precast blocks spaced from the outer wall, and of reduced cross section opposite the flanges 4, to leave a continuous cavity 3. Each end face of each flange is formed with a groove 5, these grooves registering to form vertical cavities into which reinforcing rods 6 are grouted. The end faces of the blocks may be inclined to form a binding key 7 between adjacent blocks and may be formed with registering tongues 8 and grooves 9. The top and bottom of each block are formed' with. grooves 10 and tongues 11 respectively and horizontal rods 12 may be placed in the grooves and tied to the vertical rods 6. The blocks 1 and 2 may be cast together and connected with the rods 15 having hooked ends 16 embedded in the blocks.
