562,374. Metallic - vapour lamps. NEONELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and SCARFF, O. P. Sept. 10, 1942, No. 12802. [Class 39 (i)] A source of ultra-violet light unmixed with visible light comprises a low pressure mercury vapour discharge surrounded by an envelope of black glass which excludes visible light, and a layer of luminescent material such as calcium tungstate interposed between the discharge and the envelope to convert short ultra-violet rays which will not pass the envelope into useful rays of longer wave-length which will pass.
