Abstract

562,101. Valve gear. BUCKLEY, A. B. Dec. 14, 1942, No. 17739. [Class 7 (vi)] In an adjustable tappet, distance piece, &c. in which piston 14 slides in the body 10 of the tappet and forms therewith a pressure chamber 20 adapted to contain oil which can seep past the. piston to a reservoir chamber 18 behind: the piston, a cup-shaped cap- .sule 40 surrounding the piston rod 16 separates the, oil reservoir from a chamber 19 for compressed air. Oil is free to flow past a non-return valve 34 in the piston-into.the pressure chamber 20, damage to the capsules by rotation of the tappet being prevented by a split pin 50, passed through the body of. the tappet and the piston rod.
