Abstract
560,182. Feedwater supply systems. BOBY & CO., Ltd., W., and BOBY, W. V. Sept. 21, 1942, No. 13299. [Class 123 (ii)] Steam from a flash chamber 12 for the boiler blow - down delivered to the chamber under the control of a valve 11 is supplied through a pipe 18 to a feedwater de-aerator 19 in excess of the amount required to raise the feedwater to boiling point. The excess passes through a pressure-control valve 32 and a flow indicator 33 to a direct-contact preheater 21 for the make-up. Further steam necessary to raise the make-up to atmospheric boiling point is supplied from a turbine bleed point under the control of a thermostatically operated valve 35 as described in Specification 559,757. The make-up is supplied through a pipe 17 and passes through a heat-exchanger 16 in the outlet pipe for the blow-down concentrate. The heated make-up enters the de-aerator through a float chamber 24. The main condensate enters through a pipe 30. Excess of the continuous blow-down flows into a tank 42 and is delivered by a pump 45 into the base of the preheater 21, or the excess may be taken off between the flush chamber and drain trap .14 and delivered directly to the bottom of the preheater.
