Abstract
559,870. Spraying shell-cases. WELSH METAL INDUSTRIES. Ltd., and HOBROUGH, P. G. Sept. 2, 1942. No. 12356. [Class 95] In a machine for spray-lacquering shell cases or like bodies which are supported on a turntable means for locating the shell cases opposite the spray gun, a clutch connection between the shell-carrying spindles and a driving shaft, and a pad which covers the driving band or other part which is not to be coated, are simultaneously controlled by a single pedal-operated member. The turn-table 5 carries bushes 4 which provide bearings for spindles 6 carrying shell bodies 7. When a body 7 is opposite a spray gun, a locating plunger 8 engages a recess 4a in the lower end of a bush, and the driving shaft 10 rotates the spindle 6 through the operation of a clutch 10a, 6a. The pad 18. which protects the driving band 7a, is carried on arms 19 of bell-crank levers, which, together with the locating plunger 8 and the clutch 10a, 6a, are operated by means of the foot-operated lever 15.
