Abstract

1451641 Discharging from an aircraft M L AVIATION CO Ltd 19 Feb 1974 [19 Feb 1973] 8061/73 Heading F3C [Also in Division F2] An ejector release unit for releasing and projecting an object from an aircraft has a throttle which can adjust the pressure applied to a telescopic ejection gun of the unit. A throttle member 2, Fig. 1, is located in a housing 4 of an ejector release unit 6, has an axial bore 8 which communicates with a source of pressure generated by the firing of an explosive cartridge via a passage 30 and with radial passages 10, Fig. 4, which are in the throttle member 2 and have different diameters, and is rotatably mounted in a member 12, Figs. 1 and 3 which, having a screwthread 14, is secured into the housing 4. The member 2 has parts 16, 18 the former being of erosionresistant material and the latter having an extension 20 received in a bore 22 of the member 12. A spring 26 is positioned in an enlarged portion of the bore 22 and is compressed by a nut 28 screwed onto the end of the extension 20 of the part 18 of the member 2, this causing a shoulder 24 of the member 12 to be urged against the part 18. The nut 28 may be adhered to the extension 20 and may serve as a knob for rotating the member 2 to align the required radial passage 10 with a passage (not shown) which leads to an ejection gun (not shown). In another embodiment the throttle member 2 has passages 32, Fig. 5 which extends across the diameter of the member 2 and have different diameters. The throttle transfers pressure from a breech 34, Fig. 2, of an ejection release unit, to a passage 36.
