Abstract

The turret is mounted on a sleeve which is free to rotate about a coaxial shaft fitted to the body of the lathe. The sleeve and shaft are restrained axially by a flange at each end of the joint, one bolted to each component. Lubricating oil is fed under pressure to the top of the joint by a hole bored axially through the shaft connected, via a hole through the shaft wall, to a circumferential groove in the sleeve. Separate body to turret fluid connections are made by the same method, grooves being axially displaced relative to each other, and connected to the sleeve end surface by axial holes, angularly displaced from each other.
