Abstract

557,835. Bearings. SHAFER, J. E. Dec. 3, 1941, No. 3504/43. Divided out of 557,806, [Group XXVI]. [Class 12 (i)] A bearing assembly having an annular external wall is locked in its housing 10 by a pin 37 seated in a closed recess 36 leading to an aperture 36a in the wall, the pin allowing lubricant to pass from a lubricator 20 to the bearing aperture. The outer race ring 33 has a spherical surface 35 and the aperture 36a is spaced from the raceway so that the balls will not wear or chip the mouth of the aperture. The pin 37 fits loosely in the recess 36 to allow slight adjustment of the ring 33 and has an axial aperture 37a for the lubricant. The bearing has outer seals each consisting of a retainer 40 pressed into the ring 33 and a flinger 41 carrying a felt washer 42 and pressed on to the inner race ring 30, as in Specification 557,806.
