Abstract

555,428. Brushing apparatus. TRIGGS, W. W. (Carnegie-Illinois Steel Corporation). Feb. 20, 1942, No. 2286. [Class 60] A unit for brushing apparatus used to brush the surface of electroplated strip material comprises an elongated, inverted, U-shaped supporting member which carries the rotary brush and a driving motor and is supported by guides in the frame of the apparatus ; a grinding or honing member for the brush may form part of the unit. The main frame 2 is provided with guides 14 for the limbs of the inverted U-shaped support 4 fitted with bearings 5 for the shaft 6 of the brush which is connected to a motor 8 disposed on an extension of the support lying outside the machine. The grinding block 17 is carried on pivoted arms 19 and is adjustable by screw and nut 21, 22.
