Abstract

579,002. Measuring surface - roughness. KAPELLA, Ltd., and REASON, R. E. Aug. 16, 1943, No. 13275. [Class 106 (ii)] In an apparatus for measuring surfaceroughness, a stylus B1 is mounted in a pick-up head, B connected by two spring ligaments E2, E3 forming a parallel-motion linkage to a supporting member E having driving means for moving the head B over the surface C under examination. The supporting member E is detachably secured to a bar D reciprocated in a casing A. The head B can be adjusted longitudinally by a rack and pinion G1, G2 and vertically relatively to the supporting member E by a screw F3 bearing on a thrust block H fixed to the said member E. The casing A is steadied by an arm J engaging the work-piece surface C. Specifications 539,273, 556,975, [Group XXXVIII], 567,918 and 579,003 are referred to.
