[Class 40 (ii)] [Also in Group XX] A sound - recording apparatus having a guide and film-tensioning roll 42 has means for regulating the position of the roll and for indicating the said position. The roll is mounted on a pivoted arm 70 coupled to a dashpot 72 and to a spring 43 to which varying tension may be imparted by an arm 73 pivoted at 74 and adjusted by a cam 75 on a hollow spindle 76 controlled bv a handle 22. A rack 71 coupled to the arm 70 gears with a pinion 78 on a spindle 80 mounted within the spindle 76, so as to indicate the position of the-roll 42 by means of a pointer 79 adjacent the handle 22.
