Abstract

554,797. Brushing-apparatus. TRIGGS, W. W. (Carnegie-Illinois Steel Corporation). Jan. 12, 1942, No. 442. [Class 60] Apparatus for brushing metallic strips comprises rollers which deflect it into arcuate paths, cylindrical brushes engaging the strip at these points, and honing or abrading devices for engaging the brushes. The strip S passes over adjustable backing rollers 5 where the strip is engaged by the rotary brushes 4, each brush being maintained cylindrical by honing blocks 24 carried on arms 25 and an adjustable threaded shaft 23. Water is sprayed on both the strip and the brushes.
