770,513. Descaling strip metal. THOMAS, E. March 31, 1953 [April 9, 1952], No. 8890/53. Class 82(2) Strip iron is descaled by progressively subjecting the strip to alternate twisting operations in opposite directions about its longitudinal axis. A ferrous strip 1 is passed between two parallel sets 2 of rolls and, intermediate these sets, through a third set 3 approximately at right angles to the sets 2. Several series of sets may be provided and the apparatus may also include brushes or other abrading devices. The sets of rolls may be adjustable longitudinally of the strip and the set 3 may be angularly adjustable.
