Abstract

The attachment is fitted to a machine tool as a complete unit for milling, grinding etc., having a tool spindle located radially and axially in bearings in a sleeve, and driven by a motor via stepped vee pulleys. The housing is in the form of a plate supporting meter and spindle sleeve, and a shield covering the vee-belt drive. Each pulley can be carried in U-shaped bearing housings attached to the support plate, the backs of the U's being towards each other and inside the housing. One shank of the motor pulley bearing housing can fit in a recess in the plate, so that it is adjustable, together with the motor, to and from the tool spindle for belt tensioning purposes, being held in position by clamping screws.
