Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the precision, with which a workpiece is rotated, by supporting a main shaft of the super-high precision lathe by a static pneumatic pressure bearing of high precision, providing a main shaft driving motor base separately from the stone surface plate and suppressing the vibrations of a flat belt with a tension adjusting pulley. CONSTITUTION:After a workpiece has been vacuum chucked with a vacuum chuck 5, a main shaft driving motor 14 is driven to rotate a main shaft 7 via a flat belt 19, thus rotating the workpiece. Also, a carriage driving motor 23 is driven to rotate a wheel 26 through a speed reduction mechanism 25, thus moving the carriage 9 along a guide 3 via a steel wire 27. Further, a driving motor 11 is driven to move a cutter 11 toward the main shaft 7 via a cutter base 12, for matching the workpiece. The main shaft 7 is supported by a static pneumatic pressure bearing, the base 15 of the motor 14 is provided separately from the stone surface plate 1, and the vibrations of the flat belt 9 is suppressed by a tension adjusting pulley 20. Thus, high precision of rotation of the workpiece can be steadily maintained.
