[Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XL] In a radio-goniometer having a stator and a rotor, which may be moved by hand or continuously by a motor, the stator 1 is of hollowed cylindrical form mounted at one end and having the other end free from obstruction, and the rotor 2 is also of cylindrical form mounted within the stator and coaxial therewith. The hollow cylindrical windings 14, 16 of a coupling transformer are mounted coaxially within the rotor, winding 14 rotating with the rotor and winding 16 being stationary. A core 18 and cylinders 10. 11 of magnetic material, e.g. compressed powder, are arranged as shown to improve the magnetic circuit. The rotor and stator windings are wound in longitudinal slots in formers, the wires that pass from one notch to another being shown in section at 8, 9, in Fig. 1, the wires 8 being accommodated in a recessed portion of the former so as to permit the magnetic cylinder 10 to be slipped on readily.
